Welcome to the new Smash Bros Brawl discussion topic. The epic long-running pre-release topic now has a new home in the Archive Board. You can visit it here if you feel like reminiscing about months of waiting and hundreds of daily Dojo updates.

If you're new to Brawl, be sure to activate the Smash Service setting in the options in WiFi mode so that you can receive a stage and other stuff from Nintendo each day. If you’re not sure how this is done, it’s easy.

First, select WiFi on the main menu. You'll see this screen once it's connected:



Choose Options at the bottom there.



Click the button next to Smash Service.

That’s it. Note you’ll have to connect to get the stuff from Nintendo. It doesn’t automatically download, and it disappears the next time new stuff arrives.

Feel free to post your friend code in the Wii numbers topic. Helpfully enough, you don’t need a person’s Wii number to play with them online. You only need their Brawl code. Of course, you both need to register each other otherwise it won’t work.

Finally, here's the link to the snapshot decrypter so you can put the photos you've taken in the game onto an SD card and then onto your PC.

If you want it so bad you're willing to spend the extra money for it... you may consider it. Modding will have other perks to it as well, of course. I'd have totally done this if I'd found out about it sooner

Wouldn't that make the warranty invalid? That's way too big a risk for me.

Just back with my copy, I was the first one at the local mall to get it!

And oh my god, I don't think I've ever been happier while just watching the intro to any game, I swear I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time.

First thing I did was get my FC: 5198-2079-9715

Man, this game is soooo good! Very first thing I did was Classic Mode with Peach on Normal. I've also cleared the first 20 events, and started up a Subspace game. Played a lot of 1 on 1 matches against the computer gradually working my way up to level 9 as I got used to it. Some thoughts on characters:

Bowser: Not nearly as useless as he was in Melee! Although maybe he is, but he certainly isn't as useless as...

King Dedede: Sloooooooow, won't be using him much.

Diddy: Good character, I can see myself using him regularly.

Peach: Not as good as she was in Melee, her second jump isn't as good

Olimar: Interesting guy, not too great, but not that bad either. Sorta liked using him.

Pit: Man, if his standard Smash move wasn't so stationery he'd probably be my best character.

Pokemon Trainer: Pretty good, better than I thought it would be. Charizard is great, Squirtle is okay, but Ivysaur sucks.

Samus: Bleh, still can't stand using her normal form, but Zero Suit is pretty awesome. Is there a way I can start the match like that?

Wario: Not as slow as I thought he would be! Pretty good character.

I've played as all of the default characters (plus a few hidden ones) a couple of times each, gonna try to unlock some more later

Adam: hold R (if you're using a GameCube controller) before the match begins to start as Zero Suit Samus. Using her Final Smash will turn her back into regular Samus, of course.

When two people play Subsapce, is one person forced to use the wiimote? I can't seem to get it so I can use my Gamecube controller.

It's a pain in the ass. My brother is rocking with the gamecube controller, and I keep lagging behind with the POS wiimote.

EDIT: Hm, finally started to work. Stupid wireless controller. Nothing to do with batteries, those were fine, and it was on the right channel and everything. I have no idea why it didn't work. I had to plug in a regular gamecube controller first, then when i saw I could finally navigate on the screen, I plugged in the little wireless part and it finally allowed me to move.

Before Brawl was out, I was thinking that we'd finally have a way to find out who's best at Smash Bros, since seemingly everyone thinks they're amazing. There would be no excuses - if someone's running their mouth they'll have to back it up in a WiFi game, I thought. Instead, lag means everyone has a default excuse for losing, so I guess WiFi hasn't solved anything after all. Heh.

This is my first Smash Bros, so I've sort of been making things up as I go along. It's been working, for the most part.

I started out doing Subspace, and got through

So far, I think my best character is either Pit or Meta Knight.

I had this cool picture from an Event where it looks like Pikachu gave Squirtle a headbutt. I'd post it, but I don't have an SD Card.

Use the B up attack once you can't wall jump any farther.

I got it at noon and played the Subspace part. Got to 30%, and I've done 15 events on Hard and played a couple of Brawls.

My best characters are Meta Knight, Pokemon Trainer, and Pit.

I unlocked Ness and Marth before I even started playing Subspace, and I saw Snake in a box in Subspace but haven't gotten him yet.

On the Target games I beat level 1 & 2 easily with Meta Knight but haven't beaten them with anyone else yet. But that was only in Classic Mode anyways.

I believe in Nintendo's power to supply after the shortage of Wii's so I'm just gonna wait some weekends til I can actually play my Wii. Sounds awesome though. My friends waited at midnight last night to get their's. Funny seeing them today all tired from mega night playing.

not all characters can wall jump. i'm pretty sure zero suit samus cant.

I did a pseudo-wall-jump, but I just Up+B'd when I couldn't jump anymore.

Aside from link ive really gotten a liking to

Pip - shitty special, but i like his move set.
Olimar - he is a challenge. Im not horrible with him, but i definitely want to increase my skill with him.
Snake - as much as i love snake.... i thought he just didnt fit in this universe at all. Then i unlocked him and played as him. Pure kickass.

Currently, my favorite characters are Link and Ike (both of their final smashes are devastating.)

I'm only about 13% or so into the Subspace.

Still trying to get the hang of the game, I was also the first one to get the game, I was making line while everyone else was busy paying attention to the tourny and yelling like idiots whenever they saw a smash ball, it reminded me of the annoying Japanese girls in the E3 videos.

An interesting story, one of my friends left me a voicemail saying that he got Brawl at around 7:00 A.M. (our Wal-Mart is closed on late nights until 6:00.) I suppose that makes him the bigger nerd, because I wouldn't wake up that early to get the game.
